Cameron Harris asked her parents if she could start a lemonade stand when she was younger, and the idea has grown into a blossoming business in Cedar Hill. Cedar Hill ISD said the Collegiate High School freshman started the business in front of her home, and now it’s something that people look forward to at local festivals and even school football games. Harris Lemonade and Popcorn. She’s attended the Collegiate Pathway since she was in Pre-K in 2017-2018, and by second grade, she was already creating different flavors for her lemonade. Eventually, that grew into her parents securing vendor permits so she could sell at local festivals. While the pandemic in 2020 put a pause on the business, it didn’t end it. Now at 14, she has had some new ideas to freshen up the business, like adding popcorn to the menu. “It’s encouraging,” her dad Chris said. “She’s learning how to do business, deal with people, and become confident. Maybe someday, the products will be distributed in stores.” So what is she doing with her hard-earned money? Her family said she is saving it for college, but also for fun activities she enjoys. It has become a family affair as well, because Harris plays the clarinet in the marching band. She is also a volleyball player. So her family often runs her lemonade and popcorn stand for her at the home football games, while she is on the field performing.
