Surveillance video captures burglary at Oak Cliff restaurant as business owners raise concerns
Oct 08, 2026
A surveillance camera captured the moment a burglar broke into an Oak Cliff taqueria early Wednesday morning, using a concrete block to shatter a window before making off with cash.
According to the owners of Donde Los Tacos on West Davis Street, the suspect tried multiple times to break the glas
s before eventually gaining entry. Video shows the suspect throwing a concrete block at the window several times. After the first two attempts failed, the individual briefly sat outside the business before trying again and successfully breaking through.
Owner Jennifer Reyes said she was shocked by what she saw on the surveillance footage. When employees arrived around 8 a.m., they found the restaurant in disarray. A cash register had been moved, equipment was damaged and about $100 in cash had been stolen.
The break-in has added to growing concerns among business owners in the Bishop Arts and Oak Cliff area, who say multiple businesses have been targeted in recent weeks. Reyes said neighboring businesses have also reported thefts, and her own business has experienced previous burglaries.
Last week, the owners of Whose Books said someone stole items from a vehicle used for community events. A nearby hardware store has also reportedly been burglarized several times since August.
The office of Dallas City Council member Chad West is encouraging affected business owners to reach out to discuss possible solutions.
Reyes said the burglary is both frustrating and heartbreaking, noting that she and her husband spent years saving to build the business. She said she is considering working with other business owners to explore ways to improve security in the area.
