INDIANAPOLIS — An officer was hospitalized after a suspect assaulted them and took off in downtown Indianapolis Thursday morning, police said. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded to a ‘suspicious person’ call at 901 Fort Wayne Avenue, near Lugar Tower Ap artments. When officers made contact with the suspect, the person reportedly assaulted an officer and fled in a vehicle. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital. They are in stable condition, police said.
