Oct 07, 2026
(KRON) -- Healdsburg police said officers responded near Healdsburg Junior High School on Oct. 2 to investigate reports of a reckless driver.
According to police, reports initially indicated that someone in the vehicle was possibly pointing a gun out of a window.
Police said, “Responding officer
s, cognizant of the unsanctioned ‘Fugitive Game’ occurring locally that evening, exercised heightened caution while searching for the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle traveling at high speeds and performing hazardous maneuvers. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated sharply, exceeding speeds of 90 mph on city streets as it fled from pursuing officers.”
Police said the brief pursuit was ended out of concern for public safety.
Police said they then used the Flock Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system and car dash camera footage to identify the suspect’s vehicle.
Police later identified the driver as an 18-year-old male Healdsburg High School student.
He was taken into custody Wednesday on charges following the high-speed chase and also served with a vehicle seizure warrant.
Investigators said they found no real firearms were involved or displayed during the incident.
