(KRON) -- Two people were shot and one person died in separate, unrelated shootings in Vallejo on Tuesday. In a separate incident, another person died in a traffic fatality in what turned out to be a deadly morning for the North Bay community.
All three of the incidents occurred in the span of less
than 30 minutes.
Details emerge after Oakland Hills couple found dead in home
According to the Vallejo Police Department, the first shooting occurred at 8:03 a.m. on Springs Road at Castlewood Drive. A man was shot and taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
The second shooting occurred outside of 200 Marin Street at 8:23 a.m. One person was shot in that incident. They were taken to the hospital and later died.
Witnesses told KRON4 that the shooting occurred on the sidewalk outside the Longshore Cove Apartments. The victim was reportedly headed to his first day at work at the post office when he was shot along the sidewalk.
“My neighbor's son was killed this morning. I don't know him personally, but I see him all the time,” said Angela Sullivan, who lives at the Longshore Cove Apartments on Marin Street, where the second shooting occurred.
“He's walking to the store to get him a Red Bull to start a job, a new job at the post office. He was very excited about. He literally died in his work clothes. He had his post office pants on,” Sullivan said.
Neighbors say they don’t know if someone walked up to the victim and shot him or if he was shot from a vehicle. But they say it took a long time for help to arrive.
Neighbors believe the delay was because police were dealing with the Spring Road shooting. But at this point Vallejo police say the two incidents are not connected. Still, neighbors say the violence in Vallejo is instilling fear in many.
“It's been quiet lately, but this place is known. It's known to have these murders. It's known. I love living here. Like I said, it was peaceful this morning, but it's certain elements that come here and bring this to us,” Sullivan said.
In between the two shootings, another person died in a vehicle crash on the 1000 block of Sonoma Boulevard at 8:15 a.m.
The Vallejo Police Department emphasized that none of the incidents were connected.
