Make Your Own Cursed LafufuOct 18My New Year’s resolution was to make more art in 2026. Not for work, not to sell—I just wanted to prioritize making a mess for n o reason other than to have fun. I picked up cross-stitching, got back into block printing, and have become mildly obsessed with making photo zines with the dirtylittlezine.com template. But the most fun art project I’ve done all year has been the Make Your Own Cursed “Lafufu” class at Push/Pull, where you get to make your own freaky, DIY Labubu, that polarizing plush collectible with a plastic face. The session is led by Holly Conrad, who made costumes for Robot Chicken and Guillermo del Toro. At Push/Pull, she dumps a bunch of art supplies on the table—small stuffed critters, polymer clay, glue guns, plastic eyes, fake teeth, sculpting tools, even resin that has to be treated with a UV lamp should you want to make your guy look a little wet or slimy—and as you cut off a stuffie’s face, she shares all her tips of the trade, from the ideal thickness of the clay so your monster’s face isn’t too heavy, to how to get realistic-looking wrinkles around the eyes. I left the three-hour class with a new bestie, a little lion named Meatball who has tentacles and buck teeth. What friend will you make?
