Giant metal sculpture of naked woman leaving SF Embarcadero

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A giant statue of a naked woman that has towered over San Francisco's Embarcadero Plaza for the past 18 months will soon be gone. The statue, which was recently renamed from "R-Evolution" to "I Am" by the artist behind it, has had a somewhat controversial tenure along the SF
waterfront.

The 45-foot-tall sculpture was originally slated to be placed in Union Square. However, due to what Union Square Park officials called "unforeseen engineering complexities," the wire-mesh statue was erected across from the SF Ferry Building instead.
Created by Bay Area artist Marco Cochrane for the 2015 Burning Man festival, the statue was styled after Bay Area model Deja Solis. It was originally slated for a six-month run back in April 2025 and then received two six-month extensions.
"I Am" is part of San Francisco's Big Art Loop project, a public art initiative featuring 100 sculptures along a "trail" across 34 miles of the city. The sculpture, which is set to be removed from the Embarcadero next week, is available for sale or lease, according to the artist's website.
