City crews conducted emergency stormwater repairs Monday in Del Mar Heights to fix a storm drain system and stabilize a slope along Del Mar Heights Road. The repairs are between Crest Way and Durango Drive, with work expected to continue for months. According to the city, a deteriorating meta l pipe failed along the slope near the road, causing erosion and damage to the sidewalk. Repairs were being made immediately ahead of the winter storm season, which weather experts said could bring heavy rain, strong winds, mountain snow and coastal flooding as an El Niño cycle.
