The injuries continue to pile up for the Eagles. On top of everything else, they learned Monday running back Tank Bigsby needs surgery to repair a core muscle injury suffered during the Eagles’ loss to the Rams Sunday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted. The Eagles hope Bigsby can return in s ix weeks, according to Rapoport. With Saquon Barkley leaving the game early with a hamstring injury, Bigsby got a team-high 14 carries – his most as an Eagle – for 55 yards. He’s 28-for-91 (3.3 average) with one TD so far this year after averaging 5.9 yards on 58 carries with two TDs last year. Bigsby was the Jaguars’ 3rd-round pick in 2023, and he had a big 2024 season with 766 rushing yards, a 4.6 average and seven rushing touchdowns. The Eagles acquired Bigsby from Jacksonville before Week 2 last year in exchange for a couple late-round draft picks. Bigsby has played in 55 of a possible 56 games in his career, missing only a Week 11 game against the Lions with Jacksonville with an ankle injury. The Jaguars lost 52-6. Barkley’s status for the Eagles’ game against the Jaguars Sunday in London is unknown. Head coach Nick Sirianni declined to provide an update on Barkley on Monday.  Will Shipley is the only other running back currently on the 53-man roster. Shipley, a 4th-round pick in 2024, ran six times for 23 yards Sunday and is 15-for-51 (3.4 average) this year.  Shipley and Bigsby each played 29 snaps after Barkley left the game playing just four snaps. There are a couple interesting running backs on the practice squad. Offseason acquisition Dameon Pierce, who rushed for 939 yards and a 4.3 average as a rookie with the Texans in 2022, missed most of training camp with a hamstring injury, but he ran four times for 44 yards in his one preseason appearance, against the Bengals in the final preseason game.  Also on the practice squad is former Chief Carson Steele, who ran 21 times for 59 yards and caught 14 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason, along with former Cowboys 5th-round pick Jaydon Blue, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown in Dallas last year. The Eagles faced the Rams Sunday without DeVonta Smith (hamstring), Dallas Goedert (knee), Zack Baun (concussion), Marcus Epps (groin), Landon Dickerson (knee), Lane Johnson (personal reasons), Fred Johnson (knee) and Hollywood Brown (ankle), then lost Barkley, Quinyon Mitchell (knee) and Jonathan Greenard (ankle) during the game. ...read more read less
