(KRON) -- There is a moderate to major heat risk across much of the Bay Area Saturday and Sunday, continuing across the interior Monday through Thursday. Elevated fire weather conditions continue in the higher terrain through Thursday. Short Term: A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday through 10 p.m. Sunday for most of the Bay Area, including San Francisco. A few coastal spots, including the North Bay coast, and the San Francisco Peninsula coast, are expected to stay cooler if the marine layer holds, though patchy coastal fog is possible there. Elsewhere, highs will run 10 to 20 degrees above normal, with overnight lows also well above normal, offering little relief. In the higher terrain, elevated fire weather conditions continue, with hot, dry air and long burn periods persisting through the night. Long Term: The Heat Advisory continues through 10 p.m. Monday for the interior Bay Area. The coast stays cooler under a compressed marine layer.
