The city's transportation department is stepping up its street repairs and planning to fill thousands of potholes Saturday.More than 30 Department of Transportation crews will hit the streets with a goal of filling more than 5,000 potholes around the city, Mayor Brandon Johnson said in a press relea se. It's the second consecutive weekend of the "repair blitz," and crews tackled nearly 5,600 potholes last Saturday."Every pothole we fill makes our streets safer and more accessible for the people who rely on them every day," Johnson said in the release. "This weekend, Chicagoans will see the full force of government at work, with crews working across the city to ensure we are preparing our streets for the winter months ahead. I want to thank our crews for their dedication and the hard work they put in every day to keep Chicago moving.”Residents can report potholes by calling 311, using the CHI311 app or visiting 311.chicago.gov. ...read more read less
