Does the work
Oct 03, 2026
I met Malena Stevens through Leadership Park City at a time when I was running for office and both of us were stepping more fully into public service. Malena has stood out from the beginning.
The way Malena talked about and approached public service with a level of thoughtfulness that is rare.
She asked genuine questions. Her questions led to a deeper understanding. Not just about what to do, but about how to do it well. How decisions are made, how the processes work, and how to serve a community with both care and accountability.
Understanding, accountability and intention are qualities Malena has so deeply that I don’t believe she could turn them down. Malena is qualified for the role of county clerk, and in this role, understanding of the process, the decisions, and how to serve our community are paramount.
This is not a role where I want someone who simply wants to learn. I want a highly qualified, experience-tested candidate.
Malena has the experience. Her master’s in public administration isn’t just a credential. It reflects a genuine investment in understanding how government functions and how it can serve people effectively. For those of us who care about strong, well-run institutions, that foundation matters.
Malena’s experience shows up in her preparation, her thoughtfulness, and her focus on doing the work the right way. She is not reactive or performative. She is steady. And in roles that require public trust, steadiness is everything.
The position of county clerk is not about politics in the traditional sense. It is about process, integrity and consistency. It requires someone who respects the system and understands that the details, the unglamorous, behind-the-scenes work, are what uphold public trust.
Malena understands that at her core.
She brings a genuine respect for institutions, a commitment to doing things well, to making changes where necessary, and a belief that public service is about responsibility, not recognition.
That’s the kind of leadership we need in this role.
And that is why I support Malena Stevens for Summit County clerk.
