One man was fatally shot Thursday evening in San Francisco's Hunters Point neighborhood, marking the city's 19th homicide of the year to date.The victim was shot around 5:11 pm on the 1100 block of Thomas Avenue, in an industrial area bordering South Basin and the Hunters Point park. lains in a release, police responded to the scene and found one male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.Officers rendered aid and paramedics soon arrived on the scene to treat what are described as life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to an area hospital, and subsequently died, despite life-saving efforts.No arrests have been made, and police are seeking information about this shooting. The SFPD Homicide Detail is leading the investigation.Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD tip line at 415-575-4444, or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with “SFPD.” Tipsters can remain anonymous. This is San Francisco's 19th homicide of the year, in what has turned out to be a year with a similarly low homicide count to 2025 — despite what appeared to be a brief uptick in killings early in the year, which led to city leaders declaring a crisis and calling for a ceasefire.As of earlier this week, the city had seen 18 homicides, which is the exact same homicide count as the same week last year, a year in which the city ultimately saw fewer murders than in any year since the early 1950s.
