San Francisco police implement new district station boundaries

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Starting Thursday, San Francisco police will begin using new boundaries at six district stations.
The changes will affect the Central, Tenderloin, Northern, Southern, Richmond and Park districts. The Southern station will now be responsible for both sides of Market Street an
d Northern station will be responsible for an additional area west to Van Ness Avenue.

The Bayview, Mission, Ingleside and Taraval districts will not change.
The changes are part of the San Francisco Police Department's mandatory 10-year review of district boundaries to help optimize police operations and efficiency.
District station captains, command staff, city legislators and community stakeholders worked with the police department to develop the best boundaries to meet San Francisco's public safety needs.
San Francisco police say the changes will not cause any disruption to service.
