Bay Area heat advisory warns of tripledigit temperatures this weekend

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A heat advisory for the Bay Area has been issued this weekend with some inland areas facing possible triple-digit temperatures. The National Weather Service is warning of a risk of "heat-related illnesses for anyone without adequate cooling or hydration."

ay and Sunday could be in the mid-90s, with temperatures climbing as high as 103 in some spots. Overnight recovery will be limited by overnight lows stuck in the upper 60s to mid 70s in higher elevations.

Impacted areas include the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay interior mountains, San Francisco Bay shoreline, East Bay and South Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Range, southern Salinas Valley, and the interior Central Coast mountains.
The advisory goes into effect at 11 a.m. Saturday and will remain in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday.
"These conditions can cause heat illnesses if outdoors for long periods, especially with physical exertion," said the NWS.

The weather service is advising people to drink plenty of water, never leave people or pets unattended in vehicles, take breaks in air conditioning or shade, and shift outdoor activity to the cooler parts of the day.
"Stay hydrated and never leave anyone in unattended vehicles!" the NWS said in a tweet.
