The suspects fled before police arrived.
The San Jose PD Robbery Unit began an investigation using automated license plate readers. Detectives identified the suspect vehicle, leading to the identification of the suspects as Damian Vielma, 20, and Jeremiah Clybourn, 19. Both men are from Dallas, Texas.
The investigation uncovered evidence linking the men to multiple crimes in various jurisdictions, including the city of Atherton. Police said the suspects targeted victims with a "high amount of crypto wealth," while posing as delivery personnel.
Arrest warrants were obtained for both suspects. On Thursday, Sept. 24, the men were located and arrested in Dallas with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, the Dallas Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Police also served a search warrant at an associated residence, uncovering evidence of the crime along with firearms, including the one allegedly used in the San Jose incident.
Vielma and Clybourn were arrested and booked into Dallas County Jail on allegations including attempted robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle and firearm-related offenses.
They are currently awaiting extradition back to Santa Clara County.
