Ensemble members Ericka Ratcliff, who is the former artistic director of Congo Square, and David Catlin, the head of acting at Northwestern University and co-founder of Lookingglass, have been elected co-artistic directors. Former creative producer Philip R. Smith will become executive director.The moves mark the end of ensemble member Kasey Foster’s three year term as artistic director. Foster helmed the company as it ended a years-long pandemic pause, underwent major renovations and returned to producing shows.Lookingglass artistic directors are elected by its ensemble for three-year terms.

The role of producing director brings Schwimmer back into the daily fold of the company. His new role will include a focus on producing, partnerships, fundraising and opportunities for the company’s artists.In a statement, Schwimmer said he's “thrilled to join this 'Dream Team’ in a more official capacity.”The new changes at Lookingglass also extend to the board of directors. Marci Masur will serve as board president and Deann Bayless as board chair. Bayless opened Frontera Grill in 1987 with her husband, Rick, followed by Topolobampo; both restaurants have won James Beard Awards. The couple’s Bayless Family Foundation supports Chicago's theater community.Lookingglass recently signed a new 20-year lease on its space at the Water Tower Water Works.
