On Tuesday, Sept. 29, Community Coffee announced the Cup of Ambition, Parton’s signature coffee line inspired by her 1980 hit “9 to 5,” fulfilling what the company said was a dream more than 40 years in the making. The coffee officially launched Sept. 29, National Coffee Day, with three roasts: light, medium, and dark. All the flavors were developed in partnership with Parton. “We are very honored to be the ones who are able to bring Dolly’s dream to life for a Cup of Ambition coffee brand,” Corinne Greene with Community Coffee said during an announcement in Lafayette. Parton was closely involved in developing the coffee, Greene said, tasting the products and providing feedback as Community Coffee refined the blends. Community Coffee’s Cup of Ambition, a new coffee line created in partnership with Dolly Parton, launches Sept. 29 with light, medium and dark roasts. The Louisiana-based company also announced its support for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Lafayette Parish. The collaboration brings together two names with deep Southern roots. Community Coffee was founded in Louisiana in 1919 and remains family-owned, while Parton built a decades-long career as a singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Parton and Community Coffee began working together in 2026, and Cup of Ambition made an early public debut at Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in Tennessee in June. The finished line includes three varieties. The light roast features notes of vanilla, stone fruit and cocoa nib, while the medium roast has notes of milk chocolate, berry and caramel. The dark roast is a fuller-bodied coffee with notes of cherry and bittersweet chocolate. Parton described the coffee as a reflection of the work and persistence behind pursuing a dream Here’s Where You Can Get Your Cup of Ambition “I’ve spent a lifetime workin’ 9 to 5, 5 to 9, and every hour in between!” Parton said in a statement published by Community Coffee. “Pursuing your passion is hard work, so I made a coffee that works just as hard.” Parton also pointed to the Saurage family, which owns Community Coffee, and the values the two sides shared while creating the product. “They not only know how to make great coffee, but they also share my love of uplifting communities, embracing family, and celebrating authenticity,” Parton said. Cup of Ambition launch connects to Lafayette Parish literacy effort The coffee, however, was only part of Community Coffee’s announcement in Lafayette. The company also announced its support for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Lafayette Parish, linking the new product to one of the most recognizable parts of Parton’s philanthropic legacy. The Imagination Library provides participating children with a free, age-appropriate book mailed to their homes each month from birth until age 5. Families with eligible children living in Lafayette Parish can now enroll in the local program. Greene said conversations about supporting the Imagination Library began earlier this year as Community Coffee considered how its relationship with Parton could extend beyond selling coffee. “As excited as we are about the coffee, that’s not why we’re here,” Greene said. “We’re here to talk about something bigger, an opportunity to create a meaningful way to create community and make a lasting impact for children and families right here in Lafayette Parish.” Community Coffee said a portion of proceeds from purchases made through its website will also go toward Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, providing additional money that could help expand the program. The announcement adds another Louisiana connection to a product built around one of Parton’s most famous songs. Cup of Ambition takes its name directly from the opening lyrics of “9 to 5,” in which Parton sings about getting out of bed, heading to the kitchen, and pouring herself a cup before starting the workday.
