(CNN)– It could cost you a lot more to fly to your holiday destination this year. According to travel site Hopper, airfares for Thanksgiving and Christmas are hitting ten-year highs. The average domestic round-trip ticket for Thanksgiving is about $402, up 31% from last year. Airfares around Ch ristmas are even higher, averaging $452 round trip, up 23%. Experts say high jet fuel prices and fewer low-cost options are helping drive up fares. Hopper recommends tracking prices now and booking before Halloween for the best chance at lower fares.
