Vail Resorts on Monday announced that it plans to complete its upcoming major lift improvements at Park City Mountain by the 2027-28 ski season. The company will replace the Silverlode lift with the first eight-passenger detachable chairlift in Vail Resorts’ U.S. network. It also plans to re place the Eagle and Eaglet lifts with a new six-passenger detachable chairlift and complete a full retrofit of the Crescent lift.  The projects are the next step in what Vail Resorts called a multiyear transformation of the guest experience at Park City Mountain. The upgraded lifts will aim to support a faster and more intuitive experience out of the Mountain Village base area as well as better circulation and more effective guest distribution across key on-mountain connection points, the company said. The investments follow the new Sunrise Gondola installed last season and the new Skyway Gondola being installed for this season. “For more than a decade, we’ve invested in nearly every part of a guest’s day, from where they learn to where they dine, to how their day begins and ends,” said Deirdra Walsh, vice president and chief operating officer of Park City Mountain. “While bringing the Silverlode and Eagle lifts to life has taken time, patience and partnership with our community, we’re proud to deliver these upgrades for locals and guests alike.”  The new Silverlode chairlift, which is Vail Resorts’ first eight-passenger lift in the United States, will aim to improve circulation and reliability at one of the mountain’s most important crossroads, the company said. At the Mountain Village base area, a new single six-passenger detachable chairlift will replace the existing Eagle and Eaglet fixed-grip lifts. A revised alignment and a new mid-station unload will aim to move guests out of the base area and onto the slopes significantly faster, spread traffic more evenly across the mountain and give newer skiers and snowboarders an easier path to progression.   The full retrofit of the Crescent lift will help reduce downtime during the season, the company said. “Each of these new projects gives our guests more time on snow and improved access to the largest ski resort in the United States,” said Walsh. “They complement our Epic Experience investment, which is raising the standard across every part of a visit to Park City Mountain, from better food to more connected lessons to improved gear.”  By the end of 2026, Vail Resorts said, the company will have invested more than $200 million in strategic on-mountain enhancements since acquiring Park City Mountain in 2014, and the new lift upgrades will be on top of amount. Those enhancements include new lifts, expanded on-mountain dining and snowmaking improvements the company made right after acquiring the resort. Other improvements have focused on arrival, access, learning, reliability, on-mountain amenities and employee housing, according to the company. They include: For the 2026-27 season, the 10-person Canyons Village Skyway Gondola, the second new gondola to debut in two seasons, and the new Canyons Village parking garage. The Sunrise Gondola, which opened for the 2025-26 season and improved uphill flow by 45%, according to Vail Resorts.  Replacement of the Red Pine Gondola cabins, which the company said improved reliability and base area access.  Major snowmaking upgrades in Canyons Village, which the company touted as expanding early-season terrain and improving conditions across the resort.  A new connected ski and ride school experience, as well as beginner ski and ride zones at both base areas, which the company said gave new skiers and snowboarders dedicated space to learn.  Terrain park enhancements, including the return of a 22-foot halfpipe.  Enhancements to on-mountain restaurants, skier services, and employee housing.  Park City Mountain also recently announced its new Larger Than Life campaign, which featured Olympic snowboarder Shaun White. The new brand platform aims to capture “the spirit of Park City Mountain while reflecting the resort’s continued investment in the guest experience and its bold vision for its next chapter,” the company said.  Vail Resorts said it would share additional details on construction timelines and opening dates in the coming months.
