(KRON) -- Over 700 marijuana plants were eradicated in the bust of an illegal creek side pot grow in a remote part of Santa Clara County earlier this month. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department said its Covert Investigations Unit served a search warrant on the grow, which was discovered in a remote area near Mt. Hamilton Road. Deputies first received a tip about the grow back in August. Utilizing the sheriff's department's Star 1 helicopter and assistance from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, detectives confirmed that numerous marijuana plants were being cultivated on private property. Dublin elderly couple suspected of killing son-in-law Detectives also determined that water was being diverted illegally from a nearby creek. Accessing the site required SCCSO Marijuana Eradication Team and Fish and Wildlife officers to hike several miles through rough terrain. Inside the greenhouse, which looked to be constructed from tarps and plastic sheeting tied to trees, officers found about 720 plants and evidence of illegal water diversion. No suspects were located.
