As part of the Town of Davie’s continued commitment to sustainability and community beautification, residents are invited to attend Gardens Matter Day and a free Tree Giveaway event on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Robbins Open Space Preserve, 4005 S. Hiatus Road. The Gardens Matter Day event wi ll take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will feature fun activities, engaging outdoor learning opportunities, gardening workshops held by local speakers, vendor booths, planter kit giveaways, and hands-on experiences for gardeners of all ages and skill levels. Registration is not required. Free Tree Giveaway The free Tree Giveaway drive-thru pickup event will begin at 11 a.m. and will provide one fruit or native tree per household. As a reminder, the Tree Giveaway is open to Davie residents only. Pre-registration and tree species selection are required in advance. Please be sure to bring proof of Davie residency, such as a utility bill, TRIM notice, or another government-issued identification. Your preregistration will be verified before you can pick up your tree. The available tree species are outlined below (while supplies last): American Beautyberry Tropical Sage Simpson’s Stopper Jamaican Caper Citrus (lemon or lime) Avocado Mango For guidance on planting and caring for your tree, UF/IFAS offers practical resources to help your tree get off to a healthy start. “The Gardens Matter Day and Tree Giveaway events support the Town’s strategic priorities and help enhance the beauty and resilient character of our community,” said Mayor Judy Paul. “By planting healthy trees today, we are creating greener neighborhoods, providing more shade, and strengthening Davie’s tree canopy for the future.” Drive-Thru Instructions: Once participants are approved, picking up a tree is easy. Simply drive through the designated pickup area, and our team will load your tree into your vehicle. There’s no need to park or get out. Please ensure you have enough room for the tree you requested. All trees will come in a 3-gallon pot except for the tropical sage which will be in a 1-gallon pot. Height and size may vary.
