INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives arrested a 17-year-old last week after investigators said they saw him carrying a gun onto the Butler University campus. Detectives with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force were investigating the juvenile on Sept. 22 after rece iving information that he had multiple firearms, some of which were equipped with machine gun conversion devices. According to IMPD, detectives saw the teenager leave a nearby home with a gun in his waistband and walk onto the Butler campus. Officers then took him into custody. The juvenile faces preliminary charges of: Unlawful carrying of a handgun on school property Dangerous possession of a firearm Possession of a machine gun Detectives later obtained a search warrant for the juvenile’s home. IMPD said they found multiple machine gun conversion devices, firearm accessories and large quantities of ammunition in the teenager’s bedroom.
