A powerful nor’easter is hitting the U.S. East Coast with heavy rain, damaging winds, and significant coastal flooding, disrupting travel and daily life from the Mid-Atlantic to New England. In Brooklyn, a 56-year-old man was killed after being struck by a falling tree. In Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, emergency crews rescued nine adults and a dog from flooded motel rooms. Coastal communities have seen some of the most serious conditions. Streets flooded in parts of New Jersey and Long Island, while Ocean City, Maryland, experienced heavy surf and beach erosion. Wind gusts above 70 mph were recorded in some areas. The storm has also affected air travel and major events.
