A 4-year-old child died Thursday after being struck by a tractor-trailer in Highland Township, Chester County, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Troopers said the crash occurred around 12:25 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, on State Route 41, north of Highland Road. According to PSP, a tracto r-trailer was traveling northbound on Route 41 as the 4-year-old was walking in a grassy area along the shoulder of the southbound lane. Officials said the child then entered the roadway, crossing the southbound lane and into the northbound lane, where they were struck by the tractor-trailer. The child was transported to Lancaster General Hospital, where they died shortly afterward. The crash remains under investigation.
