RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Gov. Abigail Spanberger shared a video celebrating Dolly Day on Sept. 25 and honoring Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library program. In a video posted to Youtube on Sept. 24, Spanberger highlighted several of her daughters' favorite books from Dolly Parton's Imagination L ibrary, a program that mails free, high-quality books directly to children from birth through age five, regardless of their family's income. There are 99 local Imagination Library programs in Virginia that serve over 86,000 children, Spanberger said. According to Elevate Early Education, there are 400,000 children under five who need books. Since the state began investing in the program, it has delivered three million books to children across Virginia, Spanberger said.
