BATON ROUGE mdash; LSU filed a motion to dismiss the SEC's lawsuit against the university, saying that the SEC is in no imminent harm after fifth-year players were not rostered.The SEC filed its initial complaint earlier in September, saying that LSU created a "competitive imbalance" and violated t he conference's First Amendment rights by attempting to sign players who declared for the NFL Draft.The motion to dismiss says that the complaint "fails to state a claim upon which relief can be granted" for the SEC. Additionally, the lawsuit said the SEC faces "no imminent, concrete harm that could establish a case or controversy" after the players were not rostered.The motion also argues that the SEC's alleged harm from being associated with LSU is "self-inflicted," as LSU has no power "to force the SEC to do anything" as one member of the 16-member conference.Attorney General Liz Murrill also issued a statement calling the lawsuit "improper and moot."Read the full motion here.Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
