Drivers across the Bay Area are paying significantly more at the pump than they were a month ago, according to new numbers from AAA. The average price for a gallon of gas in California jumped another 15 cents over the past week to $6.23. Prices are even higher in parts of the Bay Area. In O akland, the average price is $6.35 a gallon, up from $5.61 a month ago. San Francisco’s average climbed to $6.47 from $5.74, while San Jose’s rose to $6.30 from $5.57. That’s an increase of around 70 cents a gallon in just one month. Some individual stations are charging even more. A Chevron station in Dublin was charging $6.79 a gallon Friday morning, while a Shell station in San Francisco was charging $7.29. Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of gas is $4.48, the highest the national average has ever been for this time of year.
