Free to Live Animal Sanctuary will host a benefit concert and auction Friday, Nov. 6, at The Jones Assembly in Oklahoma City, raising money to provide food, shelter and medical care for nearly 300 dogs and cats. The event runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and will include silent and live auctions, food, drinks and a performance by The Wise Guys, five-time recipients of The Oklahoman Readers’ Choice Award for Favorite Band. Located in north Edmond, Free to Live has operated for 42 years and describes itself as Oklahoma’s largest nonprofit, no-kill sanctuary for stray, abandoned and mistreated dogs and cats. The organization facilitates hundreds of adoptions, while more than 100 animals remain permanent residents because of age, health concerns or special needs. “We often serve as one of the only resources in our rural area for abandoned dogs and cats and that is why events like this are so important to bring awareness and support to these most-deserving animals,” Executive Director Reagan Hamlin said. Free to Live is supported entirely through donations. Animals that are not adopted are provided food, shelter and medical care for the remainder of their lives.
