San Francisco’s first Raising Cane’s officially opened its doors at Fisherman’s Wharf on Monday morning, drawing dozens of people hours before the restaurant opened. The first person in line arrived dressed in a Raising Cane’s costume. Kodi Fort, a senior at nearby Galileo High School, got in line around 7:30 a.m. and was one of 20 people who won free Raising Cane’s meals for a year. The Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant marks Raising Cane’s first location in San Francisco, 30 years after the chain was founded in 1996. Not everyone welcomed the new restaurant. A handful of PETA protesters gathered outside to share their opposition to consuming animal products. The protest remained peaceful, and the demonstrators later left.
