SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- For the second straight week, the San Francisco 49ers have lost another wide receiver to injury. Demarcus Robinson left Sunday's 35-13 win over the Miami Dolphins after injuring his ankle in the second quarter. On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Robinson will be out of action for three to six weeks with a high ankle sprain. Oakland Roots lands deal to develop Howard Terminal "Anytime it's a high ankle, we don't have a timeline, but just high ankles in general are anywhere from three weeks at the best, which is very rare, to six weeks," Shanahan said. He added that Robinson will likely be heading to the IR, meaning he will have to miss at least the next four games. Robinson's injury happened a week after rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling suffered an ankle injury in the Niners win over the Los Angeles Rams in Australia. Stribling is expected to be out of action for at least 10 weeks. San Francisco has also been without wide receivers Ricky Pearsall, who will miss the entire season with a knee injury, and Christian Kirk who was placed on IR with a calf injury to start the season. Kirk is not eligible to return to game action until week five. Wide Receiver Mike Evans also suffered a hip injury in Sunday's game and Shanahan says the team will be managing his injury throughout the week. Despite all the injuries to receivers, Shanahan says there are no plans to tryout any wide receivers this week. Shanahan also revealed Monday that defensive lineman Romello Height broke his hand in Sunday's game and will require surgery. Height will have that surgery on Tuesday. Shanahan says there is an outside chance that Height will be able to play this week against the Arizona Cardinals. Kickoff for that game is set for Sunday, September 27 at 1:05 p.m. at Levi's Stadium. Despite the early season injuries, the Niners are 2-0 on the season and tied with the Seattle Seahawks for first place in the NFC West. ...read more read less
