RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The 5th annual ¡Virginia Fiesta! celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month is coming to Richmond's Southside next weekend. ¡Virginia Fiesta! will return to Richmond on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Southside Community Center, located at 6255 Old Warwick Road, according to a release from the city. The free, family-friendly event will feature live folklore and traditional dance groups, children's activities and two sets of Puerto Rican bomba and plena music by Kadencia. ¡Virginia Fiesta! is organized by Radio Poder 1380 AM, co-hosted by 9th District Councilwoman Nicole Jones and in collaboration with the city of Richmond’s Office of Immigrant and Refugee Engagement (OIRE). The event moves to a new venue each year to emphasize that every neighborhood in Richmond is a welcoming space for all cultures, the release said. “Virginia is our home, and ¡Virginia Fiesta! is an opportunity to express our love for her," said Oscar Contreras, ¡Virginia Fiesta! organizer and Radio Poder host.
