Julia Stiles is collecting apologies almost as quickly as she is collecting scores on “Dancing With the Stars.” After Andy Cohen recently walked back a dig at Stiles’ dancing, the actress has now received a playful apology from Juilliard over a case of mistaken identity involving one of her most famous movie roles. The mix-up stems from “Save the Last Dance,” the 2001 movie in which Stiles played Sarah Johnson, a ballet dancer who moves to Chicago and eventually earns a spot at the prestigious Juilliard School. In a Sept. 17 TikTok with her “Dancing With the Stars” professional partner Ezra Sosa, Stiles read the school’s tongue-in-cheek apology. “Dear Julia, with our apologies for the clerical error, your alumni file was found under the name Sarah Johnson,” the message said. @ezrasosa be careful what you wish for 😩 #dwts @JStiles ♬ original sound – ❀˖° The school went on to congratulate Stiles and Sosa on their “Dancing With the Stars” run and even worked in a reference to her movie career. “Remember, Dancing With the Stars ain’t no square dance,” the message read. “But we know you’ll dance circles, probably, around everyone else.” Stiles appeared to appreciate the gesture, revealing that fans at Juilliard had even sent her and Sosa official alumni gear. She was particularly excited about one item. “They know I love a crop top,” Stiles joked about the T-shirt. Juilliard also clarified that an earlier social media post was not intended to shade Stiles and was instead referring to her fictional character. The apology comes just days after Stiles received another one, this time from Cohen. During the Sept. 16 premiere of “Dancing With the Stars,” Stiles addressed Cohen’s 2025 comment that she was “not the greatest dancer on the planet.” Stiles went on to impress with her quickstep, earning praise from the judges.
