‘You Can See It’: Trump Turns His Back and Walks Off As Viewers Spot Two Strange Bulges Beneath His Pants That Cameras Weren’t Supposed to Catch
Sep 19, 2026
Donald Trump has spent the better part of two years insisting there is nothing to see. The cameras keep suggesting otherwise.
This time the argument moved to a part of the 80-year-old almost nobody had thought to look at. Not the bruised hands or the ankles spilling over his socks. Not the suit j
acket he can no longer button. Something lower, and behind him, visible only once he had turned his back and started walking away.
A short clip of Trump leaving an event surrounded by aides and Secret Service, moving down a curtained corridor hit the internet this week.

The user who posted it to Threads didn’t editorialize. They simply stacked the video next to two blown-up stills and wrote: “What is on the back of each of Trump’s calves?”
In both screenshots, a white arrow points at the same place on each leg. A spot just below the knee where the fabric of his trousers doesn’t fall the way fabric usually falls. There’s a raised outline running down the back of the calf, symmetrical, and present on both legs.

Whatever is under there, the internet decided within the hour that it was not nothing. And the White House, which has answered questions about his hands, his ankles and his stamina, has said nothing at all about his calves.
That silence is doing a lot of work, because the replies filled the comment section immediately, and most of them weren’t jokes.
“No doubt something to monitor his poor health,” one user wrote. Another simply posted, “Braces”
A third offered the gentlest theory available: “Compression socks?”
Several people replied from experience rather than speculation. “Pretty sure he wears AFOs,” one wrote, referring to ankle-foot orthotics, adding that her husband had worn them and that they’d explained why his ankles looked swollen, because he wore socks over the brace.
And one reply pointed to his walk, “You can see that his right leg wants to go off on its own.”
None of it is confirmed. There is no verified information identifying what the outlines are, and Trump’s medical team has never disclosed a brace, an orthotic or any assistive device.
What is on the record is considerably less flattering than a pair of compression socks.
In July 2025, after visible swelling in his lower legs, the White House said an ultrasound had turned up chronic venous insufficiency, a circulatory condition in which blood struggles to travel back up from the legs to the heart.
Then-Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called it benign and common in people over 70, according to BBC. She further said that testing found no deep vein thrombosis, no arterial disease and no sign of heart failure, and declared the president in excellent health.
Doctors who reviewed that disclosure were less breezy. One NBC News medical contributor said she was “very surprised” the president wasn’t planning to wear compression stockings, calling it one of the main things a patient with the condition should do, according to TODAY.
He tried them, briefly. Then he quit. “I didn’t like them,” Trump told The Wall Street Journal in a January interview, in which he also conceded he applies makeup to his hands because the heavy daily aspirin dose he takes leaves them bruising easily.
His May 2026 physical reported the swelling had improved and pronounced him in excellent health, though photographers at a Pentagon ceremony this month captured ankles that told a different story.
This also isn’t the first shape under his clothing to become a national guessing game. In August, footage from a Long Island appearance, posted by his own press secretary, showed a rigid, box-like protrusion under the back of his jacket that nobody has explained to this day.
It was just in May when viewers were zooming in as Trump appeared to swing his foot forward to walk, a clip that launched the same brace theories now attached to his calves.
Four months later, the man who insists he’s never felt better still can’t get through a hallway without the footage arguing back.
It’s worth mentioning that this is the same kind of scrutiny that trailed him days earlier, when cameras caught him pausing mid-climb on the stairs of Air Force One.
