Sep 18, 2026
CARMEL, Ind. — Carmel residents and visitors can celebrate family and unity during the annual Chinese Mooncake Festival at 6 p.m. Saturday at Midtown Plaza.
Known also as the Mid-Autumn Festival, the free event features cultural heritage, live music, traditional dance, and seasonal treats,
according to a news release issued Monday from the city government. The festivities will begin with a Dragon Parade at 6 p.m. along Monon Boulevard, followed by stage performances at Midtown Plaza from 6:20 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The schedule includes a dragon dance with drumming, traditional group dances, a Chinese costume show, and a kung fu demonstration.
Volunteers from Carmel, Indianapolis, Lafayette, and Greenwood will perform songs and play instruments designed to blend traditional styles with modern American performance art.
This year, organizers added the Family Fun Zone to offer hands-on activities and storytelling. Children can explore Chinese traditions through a photo station, a Make a Mooncake station using kinetic sand, and a Year of the Horse scavenger hunt. The zone also includes the Legend of the Mooncake story walk, a Meet the Lions session, and a kids’ Dragon Parade.
