(KRON) -- The Santa Cruz Surfing Museum will celebrate its 40th anniversary later this month with a community event at Lighthouse Point. The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse, 701 West Cliff Drive. The event will also mark the restoration of the lighthouse beacon and include the unveiling of a "Keepers of the Light" plaque honoring those who helped make the restoration possible. The city says more than $90,000 was raised through community support, with the money helping fund the ongoing care and preservation of the landmark.
