A scare aboard a Metro-North train sent police racing to Grand Central Terminal and placing a woman under arrest for allegedly threatening other riders. MTA police responded around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to an incident aboard the 7:12 a.m. train from New Canaan heading to the Manhattan transit hub. As the train approached Track 110 on the lower level of Grand Central, a woman started having what MTA police described as an “emotional crisis.” Another passenger on the train told law enforcement that the woman said “this will be your last day on Earth.” Immediately after seeing the woman, another woman aboard the train pulled an emergency cord, police said, forcing the train to come to a halt about 100 yards from the platform. Around 60 passengers got off the train at that point. After learning that some passengers had gotten off the train, Metro-North de-energized the third rail and suspended all train service to Grand Central’s lower level. Officers and train crew members escorted those on the tracks to the platform. Power was restored once all the passengers were off the tracks, about 20 minutes after the incident began, the MTA said, and the rest of the passengers still on the train were taken to the platform. The woman, identified as Hannah Santero, was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat and a threat of mass harm. Attorney information for the 33-year-old from Elmhurst was not immediately available. No weapons were found at the scene, and no injuries were reported.
