HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 69-year-old Fluvanna County man has died three days after a two-vehicle crash with a sedan on W. Broad Street in Henrico County Friday morning. At around 4:50 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the 7800 block of W. Broad Street for a reported two-vehicle crash. Officers spoke with the driver of a Lexus sedan, who said a Toyota pickup truck rear-ended him. The Toyota driver was seriously hurt and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Three days later, on Monday, Sept. 14, Henrico Police Crash Investigators were informed that the pickup truck driver, 69-year-old Paul Neal of Fluvanna County's Columbia area, had died from his injuries. Police said a preliminary investigation reveals that the Lexus driver was trying to turn right into a parking lot when Neal rear-ended him. Neal had been issued a summons for following too closely. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, but said failure to wear a seat belt may have contributed to the severity of Neal's injuries at the time of the crash.
