COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- Two men are facing multiple charges after police said one threatened a citizen with a firearm during early Monday morning vehicle break-ins in Colonial Heights. According to the Colonial Heights Police Department, a person confronted the two men while they were enter ing vehicles in the 1000 block of Lakewood Drive around 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14. Police said one of the suspects displayed a firearm, threatened the citizen and ran from the scene. Officers later made contact with 18-year-old Shane Virostek of Colonial Heights, who was in a suspicious vehicle in the area. He matched the description of one of the suspects and was detained without incident. Investigators found two firearms inside Virostek's vehicle, including one that had been reported as stolen in Colonial Heights. Authorities also found personal effects belonging to 19-year-old Khalid El Sidi of Dinwiddie County's McKenney area, who was identified as the second suspect. Virostek was charged with grand larceny of a firearm, conspiracy, aiding in concealing a stolen firearm, concealed weapon violations and tampering with an automobile. With the assistance of a police drone and K-9, officers located Sidi trying to hide himself in Swift Creek. He was taken into custody without further incident and has been charged with brandishing a firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, conspiracy and being in a vehicle with intent to commit a crime. Both were taken to Riverside Regional Jail and are being held without bond pending their next court appearance in Colonial Heights General District Court.
