Photo credit: Mercy High School For 65 years, Mercy High School has empowered Mercy Girls as they take risks, develop their voices, and pursue their passions without limitations. A Mercy education reflects academic excellence, compassionate leadership, and a lifelong sisterhood in a way that is uniquely magical. Mercy Senior Amanda A. believes that the school’s caring faculty and staff have helped her realize her fullest potential through its International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. Amanda notes, “Participating in the IB Program has been very rewarding and fulfilling, and has continued to challenge me academically and helped me grow as a learner.” Senior Kelly D. also noted the IB Program is a “game changer,” helping her to “think more critically by creating connections and developing my own personal understandings of what I’m learning.” Mercy has long been a leader in helping students create connections through experiential learning. Unique pathways to research, internships, service, travel, and more are available to every Mercy Girl. “There are so many opportunities to get involved through clubs, athletics, leadership, and service. Mercy also encourages students to explore their interests while preparing them for college and life after high school,” says Amanda. Kelly noted, “I have been challenged to be more creative and develop skills that will help me no matter where I go or what I do, and at Mercy, I’m supported every step of the way.” While reflecting on the sisterhood, both girls noted how proud they are to be Mercy Girls. Amanda and Kelly both spoke of a strong sense of community and a “family” atmosphere cultivated through Mercy’s Big Sister-Little Sister Program, Adviser Program that pairs each student with a caring faculty mentor over four years, and numerous opportunities to connect with a strong alumnae network. Amanda said, “If you’re willing to step outside of your comfort zone, you’ll find a community that supports your growth and helps you become the best version of yourself.” Kelly agreed, saying, “Everyone has a place where they belong at Mercy.
