(KRON) -- A deputy with the Santa Clara Sheriff's Office has been arrested and charged with possessing child sexual abuse material. The San Jose Police Department said it was alerted on Saturday, Sept. 12 at around 10:13 a.m. Officers were flagged down by someone who said she found child sexual abu se material on a "known suspect's residence" in San Jose. SJPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force launched an immediate investigation. Dozens of dog attacks reported in San Francisco Tenderloin The suspect was identified as Roy Chen, 41, a Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputy. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Chen's San Jose residence. That same day, detectives found Chen in Cupertino and arrested him. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for possession of child sexual abuse material The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said it is aware that one of its deputies was arrested in connection to "serious criminal allegations." The deputy has been placed on administrative leave. The Sheriff's Office added that while SJPD would be conducting the official investigation, it would initiate an administrative investigation consistent with department policy. "These allegations are extremely serious," the Sheriff's Office said. "At the same time, we must respect the integrity of both the criminal and administrative processes and avoid drawing conclusions before the facts are fully established." ...read more read less
