RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A local non-profit donated 25 adapted bikes to children with disabilities in Richmond on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday, Sept. 13, REACHcycles hosted an event at AMF Bakery, located at 2115 West Laburnum Ave., where it donated 25 adapted three-wheeled cycles to kids with disabi lities. The children were pre-selected from the REACHcycles wish list, with each child given a final fitting for the donated AmTryke. "You can see it in their smiles. That's the best part, you know, these days are great." REACHcycles offers nine different bike models with various alterations. They offer cycles where the rider has the option to pedal with their hands, feet or both, as well as ones that help with stabilization. The organization works with local physical therapists, Children’s Hospital of Richmond, Sheltering Arms and others to find people in Richmond who may want an AmTryke cycle.
