One person died after an explosion on a docked barge caused a two-alarm fire at a Staten Island shipping yard, authorities said. The incident occurred at approximately 2:37 p.m. in a shipping container located at 3249 Richmond Terrace, between South Avenue and Arlington Avenue. 54 units and 160 p ersonnel were on the scene to assist with the emergency and hazardous materials. Firefighters extinguished the blaze. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries at the barge. Chopper 4 flew over the site, where a large number of emergency vehicles were visible.
