The incident occurred just after midnight in the 1200 block of Enderly Road, located within the department’s Metro Division. According to police, communication dispatchers received a call at approximately 12:23 a.m. regarding a suspicious vehicle and two individuals allegedly engaging in criminal activity. Investigators later confirmed the vehicle had been recently reported stolen. An officer arrived at the scene at 12:28 a.m. and approached the vehicle. Preliminary details indicate the suspect produced a firearm and shot at the officer, striking them before fleeing the area. The officer did not return fire, according to department officials. Emergency crews transported the injured officer to a local hospital, where they remain in stable condition. Detectives from the CMPD Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Search teams responded to the neighborhood to gather physical evidence. Because the officer did not fire a weapon, CMPD is acting as the lead investigative agency, while the Internal Affairs Bureau launches a standard parallel review.
