A 60-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle while walking in the middle of a road in Fremont early Monday morning. At about 4:15 a.m. Monday, Fremont police officers were sent an area of Stevenson Boulevard west of Marietta Drive to investigate reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. Police said the pedestrian was allegedly walking east on Stevenson near the center median and was hit. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, who don’t believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, police officials said Tuesday. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where they later died. Their name hasn’t been released. It was Fremont’s eighth fatal traffic collision this year on city streets.
