Vallejo city councilmembers will consider a plan for two plaques to honor Pearl Pinson, a 15-year-old kidnapped more than 10 years ago while she was on her way to school. The plaques would be installed on each side of a pedestrian bridge investigators believe the teen was dragged over before bein g stuffed in the trunk of her abductor’s car. “Please approve these plaques even if we have to pay for them,” said Rose Pinson, Pearl’s sister. “To have these plaques approved would not only mean a lot to our family, to our friends, but would mean a lot to the community because it not only tells her story of who she was, it helps prevent another child, another family from going through what we have to go through.” The prime suspect in Pearl Pinson’s kidnapping in the case was shot and killed by police in Solvang a day after the abduction. Pearl Pinson has still not been found. “It’s 10 years,” said James Pinson, Pearl’s father. “It’s like a nightmare you never wake up from.” The family said they gather at the pedestrian bridge every May 25, the day Pearl Pinson was abducted, and on her birthday. The Vallejo City Council will vote on installing the plaques at Tuesday’s meeting.
