(KRON) -- If you've ever romanticized the notion of being a lighthouse keeper, this could be your big chance. One of the Bay Area's most iconic lighthouses is looking for a residential volunteer this fall. The historic Point Reyes Lighthouse is seeking a volunteer to fill a position from November t hrough February. The job requires about 30 hours a week of work over a four day period. Accommodation is included -- although not actually at the lighthouse. The volunteer housing is an apartment in a multiplex complex nearby. SF police will not raise capsized boat near Alcatraz that left 3 dead The volunteer will spend their days at the lighthouse, however, staffing the Lighthouse Visitor Center and helping to "strengthen the connection with and foster stewardship of Point Reyes National Seashore among park visitors," according to the job description. "Helping visitors connect with the park involves facilitating positive experiences by being welcoming and answering questions about the Point Reyes Lighthouse as well as the natural history of the area," the description reads. Job duties include giving 15-minute talks about the lighthouse's history, selling merchandise, using a point-of-sale system, answering questions and proactively interacting with visitors. Training will be provided along with a partial uniform -- shirts, hats, outerwear and a name badge. The volunteer will need to provide their own pants. Living accommodations for the volunteer are a short five-minute walk from the lighthouse. The include heat, water, internet and free laundry. Cable TV is not available, and according to the job posting, the apartments are not rodent-proof. "The park will provide traps and cleaning supplies to help mitigate rodent intrusions," the job description reads. In addition to intruding into apartments, mice "may also nest in vehicle engine compartments and chew on wires," the post reads. "Ravens have been known to peck at and pull on rubber seals on vehicles." Pets are not allowed. Weather can also be extreme during the time period the position covers with extreme storms and high winds possible. This can also lead to trees falling, resulting in blackouts when powerlines are struck, and access to and from the park being blocked.
