PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Calling all bookworms! The second annual Petersburg Book Fest is almost here, featuring many different books, food and meet-and-greets. Organizers announced the return of the second annual Petersburg Book Fest, which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m . at Virginia State University's Multi-Purpose Center, located at 20809 2nd Ave. This free event will feature book signings, panel discussions, activities for kids of all ages and food trucks with various food and drinks. Some of the featured authors include New York Times bestseller Tiffany D Jackson, USA Today bestseller Regina Black and award-winning author Bernice L McFadden. The annual festival traces its roots back to the launch of Resist Booksellers, an independent Black-owned bookstore that opened in the heart of Petersburg in 2022, according to its website.
