Dmytri Christian Alexander, 10, is pictured at Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport.(Photo credit Make-A-Wish Southern Florida) Dmytri Christian Alexander, a 10-year-old from the U.S. Virgin Islands who has been battling a rare form of cancer (neuroblastoma), came to South Florida recently to live out his dream to be an air marshaller. He did that and more at Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport touring the aviation facility, Coast Guard planes and helicopters based there, driving and using the equipment on a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue truck, spending time in the air traffic control room, and, of course, marshalling in a private jet, which he then boarded and drove around the tarmac with his family. It was all made possible by Signature Aviation, who coordinated all the activities and gave Dmytri personalized patches and pins. The experience was a dream come true for the youngster, who has been fascinated by planes since watching them fly rescue missions after a hurricane impacted the Virgin Islands.     ABOUT US: For more Miami community news, look no further than Miami Community Newspapers.
