Arts for Learning recently announced that it has been selected to receive a 2026 capacity-building grant from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation through its CreARTE grant program. The grant is part of a $720,000 investment supporting 28 organizational capacity-building pro jects and four collaborative arts ecosystem initiatives across Miami-Dade County. The 2026 capacity-building grants respond to recurring needs identified by CreARTE grantee partners through site visits, surveys, evaluations, and ongoing conversations with the Pérez Family Foundation. This year’s funding supports organizations in strengthening the infrastructure, leadership, resources and systems needed to build long-term resilience and growth. Through an organizational capacity-building grant, Arts for Learning will receive support to help sustain the newly hired position of a full time development director. “This support will allow Arts for Learning to diversify revenue streams, launch new fundraising activities, and expand programming. The grant gives us the runway we need to be successful in launching all of the new efforts, especially during a time when community needs and resources are changing.” said Sheila Womble, executive director. As part of this year’s new collaborative arts ecosystem grant category, Arts for Learning also will receive support to work with Armour Dance Theatre, Hued Songs, Mexican American Council, and Teeny Violini, to strengthen their board leadership, governance readiness, and corporate engagement. Through the grant, the organizations will receive support to cultivate relationships with corporate leaders, recognizing the value these individuals bring through professional expertise, strategic thinking, community networks, and long-term organizational capacity. “We are so excited to work with our colleagues in the cultural community to create systems to support each other in authentic ways that build our collective capacity to tell our story, meaningfully engage new board members, and more successfully work with Miami’s vibrant corporate community.” said Sheila Womble, wxecutive director. The 2026 investment reflects a broader need for organizational capacity across Miami-Dade’s nonprofit arts sector. The Pérez Family Foundation received 56 proposals totaling approximately $2.7 million in requested support, highlighting the demand for resources to strengthen internal operations, leadership, fundraising, communications and technology infrastructure. Since launching CreARTE in 2019, the Pérez Family Foundation has invested more than $16 million in Miami-Dade arts organizations, supporting initiatives that expand access to the arts, strengthen arts education and create opportunities for artists to live, work and thrive in South Florida.
